Let’s talk about your pre-ceremony photos, specifically in your getting-ready room. This is a special moment leading up to all the bigger moments as you finish your wedding day look. I prefer to have an editorial approach to getting ready memories and keep the visual appeal in your memories as clean as possible. Here are some tips to help you think ahead as you get settled into the space where you will be getting ready on your wedding day!
Natural Light
A bright and naturally lit space is ideal for any documentary photographer to capture real candid moments. When this is not an option we bust out the flash. It can be distracting for some people in the room to see a flash popping every few minutes or so. Natural light is also helpful beneficial for videographers and photographers to work similtaneously together.
Tidy Up
On the big day, you should bring emergency bride/groom essentials. And on top of that, you may have your honeymoon luggage, your gown/suit, and your wedding party has their belongings too. A LOT of stuff will accumulate at once in your getting-ready space. Most often lunch and beverages are in the vicinity too. 🙂
Remember to keep a section of the room clean where you want to get dressed. This will be super helpful to achieving the “look”! Designate a different section of the room to hold all the personal belongings.
A special trick I suggest when non of this is possible is staging some getting ready photos in another area that is more conducive to this style.
Happy Wedding Planning!!
